With multiple reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agents are swapping out or altering Illinois-issued license plates on vehicles to carry out their military-style deportation efforts (Giannoulias to ICE Agents: Don’t Mess with Illinois License Plates), the Illinois Secretary of State’s office is asking for the public’s help in identifying these illegal actions. Our office has established the Secretary of State’s Plate Watch Hotline. This tool provides people with a way to report plate violations, which our office will investigate.
